Semlith

Semlith docs

How to connect Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and nine more agent clients to Semlith, what it keeps private, which models it runs and what each release changes.

Semlith is local search over your code and documents for AI agents. It indexes your repositories and documents on your machine, and every agent you run searches that one index over MCP.

SWE-bench Verified, retrieval only

On SWE-bench Verified, the file the fix edits is in Semlith’s top 10 for 76.8% of 500 issues, against 47.0% for grep then read. See the benchmarks.

Start here

Install Semlith with cargo install semlith or the one-line installer on the home page, then run semlith setup. It registers Semlith in every client that has a registration command, and semlith setup --register-all also writes the config file for the rest. The client pages show what it does for each one, so you can check it or do it by hand.

cargo install semlith
semlith setup
